The Team

Gideon Taljaard has indeed led a fascinating life, let’s explore his journey in more detail:

Gideon attended Ligbron High School in Ermelo, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavours. After completing high school, he pursued a BTech Mechanical Engineering degree at Pretoria Technicon.  In 2000 he completed his degree and during this period, fate intervened, and he met his future wife, Elma.

In 2001, Gideon embarked on a new path, transitioning from engineering to farming.  He joined forces with his father, Mr. Petrus Taljaard (Snr), to cultivate their land. Their farming activities centred around Maize, Sheep, and Cattle,  essential components of their livelihood.

The year 2004 marked a significant milestone for Gideon and Elma. They exchanged vows and began their life together. They chose to settle on their farm, Goedehoop, situated just outside Ermelo.

Gideon and Elma’s family expanded with the arrival of their two daughters:

Deonie: A high school student in Grade 11 at CVO Zoutpansberg.

Elme: Currently pursuing a Higher Certificate in Bookkeeping, a testament to her commitment to education.

Gideon’s journey exemplifies resilience, adaptability, and the pursuit of diverse passions. From engineering equations to tending the land, his life path weaves a rich tapestry.

Elma’s unwavering devotion to her family has been the cornerstone of their home since their wedding in 2003. Their vows, exchanged with love and hope, laid the foundation for a life intertwined with shared dreams and cherished moments.

In 2014 the Taljaard Family had a setback, when Gideon's Father passed away, leaving Gideon to manage the entire farm. His responsibilities spanning across two different properties, namely Goedehoop (Ermelo) and Salzburg (Alldays).  Gideon's faith, vision and courage has carried him through those difficult times.

In 2018, Gideon, Elma, and their family embarked on a new adventure. They settled on Salzburg, where they breathed life into their vision: Salzburg Hunting.
