Let me weave a tale of heritage, passion, and the thrill of the hunt—a story that echoes across generations.
Mr. Petrus Taljaard (Snr), a maize farmer from Ermelo , crisscrossed the distance between Ermelo (Eastern Transvaal) and Salzburg (Alldays, Limpopo) for many years. His footsteps imprinted on the soil, bridging two worlds—the tranquil plains of Ermelo and the wild expanse of Salzburg. Since 1987, Salzburg Game Farm has been a cherished part of our family’s legacy. What began as a humble holiday retreat for the descendants of Mr. Petrus Taljaard (Snr) evolved into something more—a connection to the land, the rhythm of seasons, and the heartbeat of Africa.
With Mr. Petrus Taljaard’s passing in 2015, the torch was passed to his youngest son, Gideon Taljaard. In 2018, Gideon & Elma made a decision that stunned everyone. They decided to move to Salzburg and settle there permanently. Since then things have changed on Salzburg and it was not long before Gideon made a bold decision—to expand Salzburg’s borders from 1,000 hectares to over 3,500 hectares. It embraced its new destiny as a cattle farm, a holiday retreat, and a hunting and safari destination.
Now the Taljaard's seasoned by decades of hunting experience, stands ready to welcome you. As Gideon puts it "Together, we’ll traverse the breathtaking bushveld of Salzburg- and Ruhrord farms"
Imagine the sun-kissed grass, the rustle of leaves, and the symphony of wildlife. Here, you’ll encounter a menagerie of game species like:
Impalas
Kudu
Zebras
Blue Wildebeest
Warthogs
Ostriches
Leopard
Cheetah
Guinea Fowls
We don’t merely offer hunts; we craft unique experiences that linger in your heart. At Salzburg, the bushveld whispers its secrets, and every sunrise paints a canvas of adventure. Whether you’re an experienced hunter or a first-timer, our legacy invites you to share in the thrill of the hunt, the camaraderie around the fire, and the magic of Africa.
Come, let the untamed beauty of Salzburg embrace you—a legacy etched in time, waiting to be woven into your own story
