If the bushveld promises you anything, you can be assured it will deliver. The pre‑hunting season rains have set the stage perfectly this year, clearly indicating that we are in for a good to above‑average hunting season.
Within the first few weeks, the bushveld has already rewarded us generously. Successful hunts have included warthog, impala, gemsbuck (oryx), blue wildebeest, waterbuck, and a few good‑sized eland bulls—a clear sign of healthy game numbers and excellent conditions.
One particular highlight was an eland taken early in the season that produced approximately 15 kg of brisket fat, ideal for use in the wors we make. This is a strong indication that the animals are in excellent condition, well-fed, and thriving after the seasonal rains.
Beyond the hunting, the viewing has been exceptional. Trail cameras have recorded multiple leopard sightings, confirming steady predator movement through the area. We have also been fortunate to observe cheetahs, adding to an already remarkable season. We were even blessed with the sighting of a +- 4 metre African Rock Python. Watch our first page video.
Game sightings have been plentiful, with large numbers of impala, frequent warthog activity, and regular encounters with gemsbuck (oryx) across the bushveld. Everywhere you look, the veld is alive and productive.
As the season progresses, all indications point toward continued success—quality animals, unforgettable game viewing, and the kind of bushveld experience that truly delivers on its promise.
Be sure to take a look at our Extra Photos section, where we have uploaded the most recent images captured by our trail cameras around the farm. These photos were taken over the past few weeks and truly tell a story of renewal and growth.
The difference that the recent rains have made is remarkable. You can clearly see the improvement in the veld, the condition of the water sources, and—most importantly—the overall quality of the animals. Better grazing has resulted in healthier bodies, stronger movement, and impressive horn development across the species.
It’s always exciting to witness how quickly nature responds when the conditions are right, and these images perfectly capture that transformation. Every trail cam picture reminds us why we work so hard to manage the land responsibly and sustainably.
We are incredibly excited and cannot wait to welcome our hunters to the farm soon. The season ahead is shaping up to be a memorable one, and we look forward to sharing the experience, the landscapes, and the exceptional wildlife with you.
See you soon on the farm!
Festive Season Reflections
We are pleased to share that Salzburg Hunting enjoyed a quiet and peaceful festive season.
While the Southern Hemisphere summer brought sweltering temperatures in the mid to upper 30s °C, the veld remained alive with activity and beauty.
Game Update
Nature is thriving: most cows and ewes are now pregnant or have already welcomed calves and lambs. One of the most breathtaking sights this season has been the impala lambs scattered across the veld, a reminder of the abundance and vitality of our wildlife.
2026 Hunting Packages
We are excited to announce that our new packages and pricing lists for 2026 are now live. The biggest change this year is that we will no longer cater for individual hunters. All hunting sessions will now require groups of four or more hunters. This adjustment ensures a richer, more social hunting experience and helps us manage the season more effectively.
Bookings are already filling up quickly, so don’t delay—secure your spot for what promises to be a busy and memorable 2026 hunting season.
Preparation Reminder
Now is the perfect time to clean and maintain your rifles. We encourage all hunters to visit the shooting range and ensure that your scopes are properly zeroed in. Preparation is key to a successful and safe hunting experience.
Greetings until next time,
The Salzburg Hunting Crew
As we close the chapter on the 2025 hunting season, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who joined us in the bushveld this year.
To our single hunters
Thank you for trusting us with your solo adventures and for embracing the challenge with determination.
To our loyal clients who have become like family
Your continued support and friendship mean the world to us. You are the heartbeat of Salzburg Hunting.
To the parents who brought their children
We applaud you for teaching the next generation the ethics and respect that true hunting demands. You are shaping the future of this tradition.
To those who escaped the hustle of daily life
We hope the peace of the bushveld gave you the reset you needed. Nature has a way of reminding us what truly matters.
To everyone who feels deeply connected to nature
Thank you for sharing that passion with us. It’s what makes Salzburg Hunting more than just a destination; it’s a way of life.
Many will say that hunting in 2025 was difficult – the rains, the thick bush, the tall grass. But in truth, the challenge was not the environment; it was our ability to adapt. Hunting demands flexibility, patience, and creativity. We must learn to be like a chameleon on an ice cream bush – blending in, adjusting, and thriving no matter the conditions.
Thank you for making this season unforgettable.
We look forward to welcoming you back in 2026 for new adventures, new challenges, and the same spirit of camaraderie that defines Salzburg Hunting.
Until then, stay safe, stay connected to nature, and never stop adapting.
Warm regards,
The Salzburg Hunting Team

But as experienced hunters we know...
"The more and harder the challenges...... the sweeter the rewards"
